Seeing ourselves in picture books

July 3, 2019 By Miriam McKenney 2 Comments

Picture books can help you explore diversity with your kids. How do we know that we belong in the world? Seeing ourselves in books is a vital way to learn that we’re all beautiful in the eyes of our creator.

Bishop Curry and Jesus have lots in common – they both preach love.

May 23, 2018 By Miriam McKenney 2 Comments

Thanks to his sermon at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the world knows who Bishop Michael Curry is and knows his message. On my social media feeds, a question keeps coming up again and again: What do we do now? There are lots of things we can do, so let’s start at home.

Scripture engagement works. My teens dove deeper.

January 20, 2018 By Miriam McKenney 1 Comment

God’s story is rich with adventure, love, deceit, and every situation and emotion imaginable. My kids are hooked. My new theory about reading the Bible with kids: they’re never too young to be challenged, and they’re never too old to wonder. Join us as we read Luke and Acts!

Epiphany revelations from the Old Testament

January 6, 2018 By Miriam McKenney Leave a Comment

Epiphany offers us a chance to remember that Jesus was a king, but not the king people thought he would be. He was a baby, a child of God, and his life promised that we, too, would all be children of God. The prophets foretold him, God revealed him, the Three Kings honored him, and we adore him.
